Week 10 – Dog Sitting

February 27, 2018March 9, 2018 younghipandbionicLeave a comment

Dog sitting was the name of the game at week 10 following my LTHR (Left total hip replacement). Having Bruno for a week made me move!  It's made me get off the couch and walk, and I've really appreciated it.  The simple act of walking a few times a day has helped a TON with [...]

A Valentines Message to Myself

February 14, 2018March 9, 2018 younghipandbionic1 Comment

Whether you have a valentines or celebrate Alentines Day remember to take a moment to love and appreciate your body. After living with chronic arthritic pain I understand the love hate relationship someone can have with their body.  I felt like my body was fighting me and preventing me from reaching my full potential.  I [...]

Honestly, there isn't a ton more I could write except that one line to generalize the remainder of the first week since surgery, but I'll go into more details for those interested. Day 1 at Home Following the car ride home (which was smoother and less painful then the first [...]

Hip Dysplasia: it’s not just for your dog!

April 25, 2017March 9, 2018 younghipandbionicLeave a comment

This picture makes me laugh so much! It was taken prior to any of my surgeries.  I was at my mom's house getting my hair done and while waiting for the foils I laid down to play with our dog.  (I promise she was there and this wasn't some strange photo shot!)  My boyfriend took [...]

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Kaitlyn and I’m 32 years old.

When I was 28 I learned that I was born with severe hip dysplasia, after years of chronic pain.

At age 29 I was told I require bilateral hip replacements.

So at 30 years old I had total hip replacements with bone grafts in October 2016 (right hip) and May 2017 (left hip).
