Being Released from Physio

At this point, July 24, 2017, I had not seen my physiotherapist since before leaving for PEI (July 11) and was looking forward to learning the next step.

Well I got released!  To be honest, I know this recovery has felt easier and quicker than the last but I didn’t expect that.  I’m no where near where I want to be and I thought I might get one more set of sessions with the therapist (all future treatment I would have would be paid out of my pocket).  I was covered for 3 sets of sessions last time, but I think this was also to assist with the bad hip and the pre-surgery stuff (I was in bad shape).

I didn’t have full ROM (range of motion) and I still felt weakness but apparently I was good enough that OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) wouldn’t cover any more treatment.  80% function is good enough for them.

While I’m not happy that I didn’t get more treatment covered I feel worse for all those that don’t have the contacts and friends that I do in the therapy industry.  I’m thankful for that.

Although, for those that don’t live in Canada, I am also very grateful for all the support and coverage we have in our health care system.  I’m not sure what I would have done without it.

Focus is so important once physiotherapy is done or terminated.  This is where you really have to focus to make sure you don’t fall backwards in your recovery and keep the joints as safe and strong as possible.  A little work done every day to maintain your help is so worth it to be out of constant pain.
